Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
At ISS, we believe everyone deserves to feel respected, supported and empowered to thrive. When people feel they belong, our teams grow stronger, our workplaces are safer, and we deliver better outcomes for our clients and the communities we serve.
Global vision with local purpose
Our DEI commitments strengthen diversity, embed equity and promotes an inclusive work culture of belonging. Guided by ISS’ global DEI vision and grounded in our local purpose, our work is integrated with our Employee Experience approach and connected to our ambition to be a Leading Frontline Employer – a workplace where every Placemaker feels valued, heard and enabled to contribute their best.
The values that define us
All ISS people are driven by a shared set of values. These values are fundamental to our identity and customer service model, shaping how we act as managers, colleagues, and partners to our customers. Living by the ISS values is essential to delivering consistent performance across our services. We trust, we respect, we care, we act and we deliver.
They also guide how we create a work culture where you can: Be who you are; Become what you want; Be a part of something bigger.
Unity
We trust each other and believe in creating equality, inclusion and a sense of belonging for all – a culture where everyone can be their authentic selves. We trust.
That includes building diverse talent and teams, creating space for collaboration, as well as leaning on and learning from one another. We know that when we act together, we deliver a better experience for our customers and their communities. Only together and united, can we deliver on our purpose.
Honesty
Our honesty is non-negotiable. We respect our customers, our colleagues and our company. We respect.
We have a proud heritage of fairness, equality and inclusion. Every day, we strive to create a culture of open communication and collaboration, where differences and individual contributions are respected and celebrated.
Responsibility
Indifference is immoral. We care about what we do and for whom we do it. We care.
The health and well-being of our people and those we serve is our number one priority. We want our people to be happy,
to feel valued and to thrive. This means putting all our efforts into creating safe and nurturing working environments and enhancing the communities we work within.
Entrepreneurship
Action speaks louder than words. All our employees have a ‘license to act’ and are expected to do so. We act.
At ISS, we lead by example. That means empowering people to act and innovate - whether that be to suggest improvements and better ways of working, or to call out behaviour which undermines our vision and values. Our people know they are empowered to do the right thing.
Quality
We are professionals with a passion for quality. We deliver on our promise. We deliver.
Our people are part of one big global family that all share the same purpose – delivering exceptional service experiences.
We provide a skilled, empowered and motivated workforce who seek to deliver the highest standards 24/7, 365 days a year.
Our three DEI commitments
Leading frontline employer
We build strong systems and equitable processes and deliver a compelling Employee Value Proposition (EVP) to ensure fairness, opportunity and consistent support for all our Placemakers. This includes access to learning pathways, accessible workplace adjustments, safe reporting channels and clear expectations for wellbeing and success on site.
Inclusive culture
We create workplaces where people feel connected and respected. Through meaningful cultural moments, wellbeing initiatives, inclusive work practices and everyday behaviours that reflect our values, we build a sense of belonging across diverse frontline environments. Inclusion at ISS is practical – it’s how we collaborate, communicate and care for one another.
Inclusive leadership
Leaders play a critical role in shaping the employee experience. We support leaders to model our values, build psychological safety, communicate with transparency and recognise contributions. Strong governance, reporting and accountability ensure our DEI commitments translate into consistent behaviour and measurable progress.
Dimensions of diversity
Our DEI approach spans seven dimensions of diversity that reflect the people who make up ISS Australia & New Zealand and the communities we serve. These dimensions underpin how we build awareness, capability and meaningful action across our organisation.
Promoting equal opportunities, gender representation and career progression at every level.
Supporting intergenerational teams and those who have served in the armed forces, recognising the perspectives and and the experience they bring.
Celebrating cultural diversity, strengthening cultural capability and promoting equity across our multicultural workforce.
In Aotearoa New Zealand, we honour Māori as tangata whenua and work to build understanding of Māori culture, identity and tikanga across our teams.
Improving accessibility and providing workplace adjustments, awareness initiatives and support for Placemakers living with disability or caring for someone with disability.
Our partners for change and progress
We collaborate with community partners, cultural organisations and local networks to build inclusive workplaces and expand opportunities for under‑represented groups.
