For a strong, transparent supply chain

We act as a good corporate citizen wherever we operate, and we expect our suppliers to do the same. Our aim is to provide a transparent supply chain and assured adherence to the highest ethical standards as expressed in the ISS Supplier Code of Conduct.

Our suppliers are critical to delivering safe, compliant and high-performing environments across Australia and New Zealand. As a global leader in integrated facility services, we manage a diverse supply chain spanning thousands of partners – from specialist technical contractors and regional SMEs to Indigenous-owned enterprises, disability and social enterprises, veteran-owned businesses and global solution partners.

Supplier assurance and onboarding

We operate a structured six-step process to ensure all partners meet our governance, safety, and operational expectations.

All new suppliers complete ISS’ six‑step onboarding process:

Submit capability information via ISS procurement channels.

Mandatory governance frameworks

These documents outline our expectations on safety, ethical conduct, labour standards, quality, environmental management and risk governance.

    1. ISS Supplier Code of Conduct
    2. ISS Pacific Supplier Assurance Manual (Australia | New Zealand)
    3. Purchase Order Terms & Conditions (Australia | New Zealand)

Defence and Government suppliers

ISS supports secure and critical environments for the Australian Department of Defence. Suppliers in these sectors must meet elevated security expectations:

  • DISP alignment: Membership in the Defence Industry Security Program where applicable.

  • Cyber security: Alignment with the Essential Eight framework.

  • Sovereign capability: Commitments to Australian Industry Capability (AIC) and secure data handling.

  • Commonwealth compliance: Adherence to the Commonwealth Supplier Code of Conduct.

Fair work and ethical labour

ISS maintains a zero-tolerance approach to worker exploitation.

All suppliers must demonstrate:

  • Full compliance with Fair Work legislation and payment of lawful wages/superannuation.
  • No wage theft, sham contracting or unfair labour practices.
  • Transparent employment and subcontracting arrangements.
  • Safe, lawful and respectful working conditions.
  • Full Modern Slavery Act compliance.

ISS conducts ongoing assurance across all tiers of the supply chain.
Sustainability

Our supplier sustainability engagement program for climate action

ISS is strengthening the way we work with suppliers to support our Net Zero trajectory and increase transparency across our value chain. Our supplier sustainability engagement Program focuses on top-spend suppliers responsible for roughly 36% of ISS’s Scope 3.1 emissions. As a mandatory requirement, we expect these suppliers to adopt Science Based Targets, report to CDP, cascade sustainability requirements to their own supply chains, and provide verified product carbon footprints to ISS before 2030. We target that by the end of 2026, 32% of our global spend will be with suppliers who have SBTi targets set.

As part of the program, in 2024 we introduced a structured process including annual sustainability surveys, gap-closing plans, and targeted trainings on ISS environmental expectations, SBTi-aligned decarbonisation, renewable energy, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). The combined response rate for the 2024–2025 sustainability surveys was 87%, while the training materials have reached 100% of suppliers in scope of the programme, with an average of 65% joining the live sessions in 2025.

Regardless of annual purchasing volumes, we encourage all suppliers to review the training materials to understand how their climate actions directly support ISS’ decarbonisation pathway, and to follow sustainability principles, which account for 20% of tender evaluation weighting. Through this collaborative and transparent approach, ISS aims to accelerate progress and meaningfully reduce environmental impacts across our global supply chain.
