ISS is committed to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and play an important role in improving employment and enterprise opportunities for Australia's First People.
ISS indigenous engagement
ISS was first recognised as a Corporate Leader by the Australian Federal Government in 2008 and since this time have achieved a number of positive outcomes in the areas of Indigenous employment, business and community engagement. Since 2010, ISS has provided over 1,200 new employment opportunities and since 2014 has spent in excess of $12m with Indigenous businesses. In support of our commitment to First Nations People, ISS currently delivers a wide range of national community and employment initiatives to improve both Indigenous participation and social benefits for the communities in which we operate. We have had a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) since 2015, outlining key engagement and reconciliation metrics to help ‘close the gap’ for Indigenous Australians. The actions are based on enhancing direct employment, training and collaboration with Indigenous communities. Whilst our results have been successful, there remains opportunity for us to improve our performance to ensure our activities remain transparent and beneficial to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people. Our re-energised efforts are outlined in our RAP 2021-2024. We are extremely proud to be playing a significant role in realising national prosperity for First Australian Peoples – ISS also fully support Reconciliation Australia with their organisation objectives.
